Cleaning and Maintaining Jewelry
Step 1
Fill a bowl with a pH balanced, liquid soap and warm water. Snacks containing vinegar, acid, alcohol or ammonia. These compounds may damage your bits and trigger rust.
Step 2
Soak your jewelry from the bowl for a couple of minutes. If cleaning vintage rhinestone jewelry, do not soak these. For rhinestones, spray glass cleaner onto a fabric. Fake jewels like rhinestones.
Step 3
Dry the jewelry using a microfiber fabric. Jewelry which has mounts or prongs can be snagged on by thick cotton towels. Your jewelry should be dry before you store it.
Storing Jewelry
Step 1
Line a container with anti-tarnish paper.
Step 2
Place the jewelry in a container with a lid. Don’t store several jewelry pieces in one container. This can cause discoloration and tarnish. A pouch makes a storage container for jewelry.
Step 3
Keep the lid closed on your own jewelry boxes when not in use. Shield the jewelry out of dust and also keep them. Look carefully at the jewelry before wearing it, checking for prongs that are broken or missing stones. Repair jewelry to prevent damage.
