Poncho for Kids
When you have kids, you realize that among the hardest part about visiting the ocean or into the swimming pool is hauling all the equipment. You’ve got pool toys, diaper bag, bites, life jackets, a cooler, towels and much more. This shortage of space inspired the beach towel poncho. Children can wear their towel, thus freeing up the hands and bag space! The poncho also acts as a cover-up from the sun and keeps kids warm when they’re wet. It transforms the beach towel into something so convenient and handy and is simple to do.
What you want:
1 Beach Towel or Bath
12 inches Dual Folded Bias Tape
Sewing Supplies
Fold the towel in half the long sides are flexed. It will look almost square. (Sometimes this can be referred to as the”Hamburger Fold” as opposed to this”Hot Dog Fold” in which the towel will be long and lean like a hot dog bun.)
Cut a 5-inch slit down the middle of the towel. This creates the hole that will pull on the child’s head.
Sew your bias tape along each side of the slit. Make sure that you are grabbing the bias tape with your stitch on the underside of your towel. Bias tape has one side that is wider than the other. I like to put the longer side on the beneath. This makes it a lot easier to catch it when I am sewing.
Beneath so it makes a nice appearance, when you reach the end of the slit, tuck the prejudice tape.
Do a zig-zag stitch after both sides have been stitched by you.
It’s as simple as that! This design is great because the hole practically disappears when the towel is laid flat. It may be used for placing in the sand. Kids think it is great and it’s one less thing for Dad or Mom.
